Certified Life Care Planner
Barbara Loftus is a seasoned healthcare professional and counselor with nearly four decades of experience in clinical care, trauma recovery, and life care planning. A Registered Nurse since 1986 and a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2009, she brings a unique blend of medical and psychological expertise to her work, specializing in the care and advocacy of individuals facing complex physical and emotional challenges.
Throughout her nursing career, Barb has served as a Certified Emergency Nurse in leading hospital systems, including Christiana Care and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where she provided critical care to adults, adolescents, and children in high-acuity environments. Her pediatric nursing experience includes ambulatory specialty care at CHOP, supporting patients in cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, gastroenterology, adolescent medicine, plastic and general surgery, allergy, rheumatology, and ENT clinics.
In her counseling practice, Barb has worked extensively with survivors of sexual trauma through SOAR, Inc., and has provided therapy for a wide range of mental health concerns at Springfield Psychological Services. She holds a BSN from West Chester University and an MA in Counseling from Mission Seminary (formerly Biblical Seminary). Her advanced training includes post-master’s certification in sexual trauma counseling from Widener University and specialized instruction in the CornerHouse RATAC Forensic Interview Protocol.
Ms. Loftus is a certified life care planner (FIG LCP-C; CNLCP) and an active member of the American Association of Nurse Life Care Planners (AANLCP), where she serves on the Journal Committee. She has presented at professional conferences, co-authored a clinical pathway for CHOP, and published articles in the AANLCP Journal. Additionally, she is a member of the National Board for Certified Counselors.
